| NOTICE TO THE PREFACE In accordance with the formula recommended recently, the twenty-two chapters of "Circuit" will be arranged in the normal order of the General Book of Massilia - 1, 2, 3, etc ... as will be seen from the images. The twenty-two verses of the "Bon roi Dagobert" will apply to the preceding twenty-two, but in an order which is not that of the Larousse; thus, the reader who wishes to discover a second "Circuit" under this "Circuit" can render the chapters in the order of the verses. Other structures have been envisaged that we leave the reader the joy of discovering. Ie: a) The twenty-two stations of the Vincennes-Neuilly line. b) The twenty-two volumes of the Journal des Goncourt. c) The twenty-two chapters of the Apocalypse of John. d) The twenty-two paragraphs of Plato's "Menexenus," which served as the framework for the twenty-two volumes of the great work of St. Augustine. e) The twenty-two chapters of Jules Verne's "Black Indies." f) The twenty-one and a half letters of the stranger to Balzac. We allow ourselves to insist on this last work, as this number has been of importance to Jules Verne, who, refused by twenty-one publishers, at last found Hetzel in the Rue Jacob, and whose "Extraordinary Voyages" make 3X22 that is to say 66 volumes. Here we find some excellent pages that have been pillaged by mediocre authors and, even worse, others who have plundered the patented masterpieces. We shall never cite our sources even though the general public pays no attention; rather, we will leave to the men of letters the pleasure of reconstituting a bibliography from which they will derive no profit. Les vingt-deux couplets du "Bon Roi Dagobert" s’appliquèrent aux vingt-deux précédents mais dans un ordre qui n’est pas celui du Larousse, ainsi, le lecteur, qui voudrait découvrir un second "circuit" sous "circuit" peut restituer les chapîtres dans l’ordre des couplets. D’autres structures ont été envisagées que nous laissons au lecteur la joie de découvrir lui-même. Nous nous permettons d’insister sur ce dernier ouvrage tant ce nombre 22 a eu d’importance pour Jules Verne, lequel, refusé chez vingt et un éditeurs, trouve enfin Hetzel, rue Jacob et dont les "Voyages extraordinaires" font 3 x 22 c’est-à-dire 66 volumes. L’on trouvera ici quelques excellentes pages entièrement pillées chez de médiocres auteurs et d’autres fort mauvaises encore que pillées dans des chefs-d’œuvres patentés. Nous ne citerons jamais nos sources dont le grand public n’a cure, laissant aux lettrés le plaisir de reconstituer eux-mêmes une bibliographie dont ils ne tireront aucun profit. L’AUTEUR |
